Changing of chefs’ hats in Molong

Molong Online gathers that there’s about to be some major movement at the station regarding local chefs.

Tristan Cronin, who helped then virgin publican David Stojanov set up the kitchen at the Freemasons Hotel a couple of years ago and has been running the pub’s excellent restaurant ever since, will in early January take over Soldiers on Riddell Bistro at the Molong RSL Club.

The RSL is currently advertising for kitchen and wait staff (http://molong.com.au/classifieds/

) and will be expanding the bistro’s hours to include lunch and dinner on Wednesdays, Thursdays, Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays.

Meanwhile, the Freemasons has hired a new chef with plenty of Sydney experience to join their existing team of Jacinta Rudd and Jake Ward. That’s all I can say at the moment on the latter front, but watch this space.

Tristan Cronin, who completed his chef apprenticeship with the Royal Australian Navy, will become the RSL Club’s contract caterer from the start of January 2017.

He said he was looking forward to providing club members and their guests with a wide range of delicious meals.

“The opportunity to run my own business, within an established premises, was too good of an opportunity to pass up,” Tristan said.

The restaurant will be opening Wednesday to Sunday, inclusively, both for lunch and dinner, including kids’ meals, with an activity bag, and dessert, a bar menu and separate pricing for members and non-members.

Tristan will also be available to cater for all types of functions and meetings in the club’s auditorium, including weddings, wakes, christenings and graduations.

Molong RSL Club President, Jamie Jones, said the Board of Directors is looking forward to working with Tristan for the benefit of the club’s members and their guests.

“I am pleased to be welcoming Tristan to the Molong RSL as our contract caterer and excited about the service and benefits he will be providing our members,” Jamie said.

“Tristan has a good reputation for providing delicious bistro meals and working with patrons to deliver high-quality catering for private functions.

“This announcement caps off a positive year for the Molong RSL Club and we welcome people to come in and enjoy the club in 2017.”

Membership of the club is available for $5 per year.
