Langdons April Long Lunch … a great Molong foodie event

Langdons of Peabody will team up with Printhie Wines and the Borenore Brewhouse to host the Langdons April Long Lunch from noon to 5pm on Saturday 8 April at 1241 Peabody Road, Molong.

About 80 per cent of the food for the seven-course lunch will have been produced on site and the farm’s pursuit of ethical, sustainable, small-scale agriculture will form an absolute highlight of what promises to be one of Molong’s events of the year.

Some 95 per cent of all ingredients and wine will be sourced from within four miles of the property.

Guests will be welcomed by live music from local rising-star Phoebe Parsons, as they enjoy Printhie sparkling wine or a pre-release light ale from Borenore Brewhouse, and snack on delights such as farm-made terrine, pancetta, ham and dips.

Then it will be off to the beach — yes, one of the dams has its own beach — for freshwater crayfish cocktails accompanied by Printhie riesling or Borenore Brewhouse wheat beer.

Guests then head to the windmill for smoked and spicy barbecued chicken accompanied by Printhie sauvignon blanc and small-batch beer, before taking to the shade of the gum trees by the creek and indulging in a hot broth, crunchy bread, and chardonnay or boutique beer.

At the stables it will be time to sit under a giant fig tree for a slow-cooked pulled-pork roll with apple slaw and garden-grown coriander … and some Printhie shiraz.

In the woolshed, local celebrity Neil Gill will provide the music to go with lamb cooked on coals by a surprise chef with more than 30 years of experience and noted for his grasp of Middle-Eastern food. There it will be time for a glass of cabernet or a crisp Molong Dry beer.

The walk of about 180 metres to the exit gate may rebuild sufficient appetite for a Racine Bakery pastry and a glass of dessert wine or another small-batch brew. Or you can take the pastries with you.
