Molong 100-Mile Dinner ... a top night of scrumptious food and very fine wine

Molong district produce was the star of last night’s 100-Mile Dinner at the town’s Village Green, where Edwina Mitchell brought together a veritable symphony of providores, chefs, winemakers and brewers to sate the appetites of several hundred devoted foodies, including many who had journeyed from Sydney to be part of FOOD Week.

After starting with glasses of Printhie Vintage Brut or Borenore Brewery Pale Ale, guests indulged in the following menu of culinary delights and wines:

— Antipasto with pickled vegetables by Pipeclay Pumphouse of Mudgee (Robert Stein 2016 Rosé or Robert Stein 2012 Cabernet Sauvignon).

— Asian vegetable soup with chicken meatballs by Edwina Mitchell Catering of Cudal (Cargo Road 2015 Riesling or Brangayne 2014 Pinot Noir).

— Lamb crepinette on white beans with vegetables and gremolata by Michael Manners and Adelaide Harris of Molong (Ross Hill 2015 Cabernet Franc Merlot or Twisted River 2015 Chardonnay Viognier).

— Beef bourguignon shepherd’s pie by Stepping Stone Restaurant of Orange (Printhie 2015 Shiraz or Swinging Bridge 2015 Pinot Noir).

— Warmed camembert with morello cherry jam by the Second Mouse Cheese Company (Orange Mountain Wines 2015 Viognier).

— Granny smith tatin on crème brulée custard tart by Legall Patisserie (Cobbens 2016 Sparkling Chardonnay or Renzaglia 2013 Sparkling Shiraz Cabernet).

It was an absolutely delicious line-up. Congratulations to all concerned for a job beautifully done.
