Temporary changes for green waste, scrap metal disposal at Cargo Transfer Station

Minor changes to the disposal of green waste and scrap metal are being made at the Cargo Transfer Station while work is being undertaken at the old landfill site.

Skip bins will be in place for the disposal of these materials until the work is completed early next year.

The former landfill site was closed some time ago and Cabonne Council has received a grant from the NSW Environmental Trust to complete the capping of the old tip.

Work is expected to start in the New Year and take about five weeks to complete.

The waste transfer station will operate as normal during this time, however space will be limited for the storage of green waste and scrap metal.

Skip bins have been delivered to the transfer station while existing stockpiles are shredded and removed.

Residents with larger loads of green waste or scrap metal are asked to consider taking them to the Canowindra Waste Depot on Nangar Road about eight kilometres west of Canowindra, or wait until the Cargo work is completed when normal green waste and scrap metal collection arrangements will resume.
