Minister confirms Cabonne election date

Cabonne Council elections will be held on September 9 after the council today received official notification that a proposed merger with Orange and Blayney Councils will not proceed.

Local Government Minister Gabriel Upton has written to the council confirming it is no longer in a merger proposal.

Mayor Ian Gosper welcomed the announcement and said the council could now proceed with its vision of an exciting future for the Shire.

“Confirmation of the poll date is also very welcome, particularly for those people who are considering nominating for the election,” he said.

“I am sure voters will have a number of talented candidates to choose from and that will ensure Cabonne continues to grow and prosper.”
