AMALGAMATION: 7 MARCH 2017
ANTY holds community gatherings to say thank you
Given official reversal of the NSW Government’s previous pro-forced-amalgamation position, the committee of Cabonne’s ANTY (Amalgamation No Thank You) group would like to take the opportunity to extend a heart-felt thanks to everyone who has supported the fight against Cabonne’s proposed merger with Orange and Blayney.
“We on the committee would not have been able to fight as hard as we have without knowing that we had the vast majority of Cabonne residents behind us and urging us on,” said Jock Haynes, the Chairman of ANTY.
“If you get a chance, please thank your local Councillors and any staff that you run into. They have borne the brunt of the stress that this wasteful episode has caused, and are to be commended for their resolve.
“Now that this divisive process is behind us, we urge everyone to look forward and unite to ensure that Cabonne and every individual community within has a bright future.”
ANTY is holding a series of gatherings in towns and villages across the council area to thank everyone for their support, with the schedule, as it currently stands, as follows:
Molong Friday 10 March, 5pm Molong RSL Club Beer Garden.
Manildra Saturday 11 March, 12 noon Manildra Bowling Club.
Canowindra Saturday 11 March, 6pm Canowindra Bowling Club.
Spring Hill Tuesday14 March, 7pm Spring Hill Hall.
Eugowra Thursday 16 March, 6pm Central Hotel.
Cumnock Friday 17 March, 6pm Royal Hotel.
Yeoval Saturday 18 March, 6pm Royal Hotel.
Venues and times for gatherings at Borenore/Nashdale, Cudal and Mullion Creek have yet to be announced.
“These will be very informal events, held just to give the committee a chance to catch up and say a personal thank you,” said Jock.
“And please note that we aren’t financial enough to buy everyone drinks. It would be great, though, to see as many of you there as possible.
“I think we are all allowed at least a little smile now! Thanks once again.”
