2018 a year of achievements for Cabonne Council

The past 12 months have been a year of achievements for Cabonne Council, highlighted by the construction of the Molong to Cumnock and Yeoval water pipeline and other major infrastructure projects.

Mayor Kevin Beatty said the pipeline, which will provide Cumnock and Yeoval with potable drinking water, was 95 per cent complete and the construction phase had exceeded expectations.

Backed by $16.7 million in funding from the NSW Government’s Restart NSW Water Security for Regions Program, the pipeline was initially intended to reach Cumnock in the first stage, with the Yeoval section to follow later.

“However, savings achieved during construction meant the pipeline has been constructed to both villages which is great news, particularly for Yeoval residents,” Cr Beatty said.

The Mayor said 2018 showcased Cabonne’s strong financial position and sound fiscal management, with two other major infrastructure projects – the $1.5m Village Enhancement Project and $1.15m Eurimbla Road Bridge at Cumnock being completed from Council’s own budget without the need for loans or government grants.

Almost 80 projects requested by residents have been rolled out or are underway in Canowindra, Cargo, Cudal, Cumnock, Eugowra, Manildra, Molong, Mullion Creek and Yeoval as part of the Village Enhancement Project.

“Council also opened the $1.2m Molong multi-purpose sports complex, with the $1m first stage being built entirely with Council’s funds while Stage Two, which includes state of the art lighting, was constructed with a $225,000 Federal Government grant promised by the Member for Calare Andrew Gee,” Cr Beatty said.
