Molong Bowls Club News

With LAST DRINKS

Members from Molong did very well at the mixed tournament held at Orange City Bowling Club on Sunday.

Bob Hamilton and Melissa Wilson took out first prize with Wal and Di Whiteley runners-up.

Sarah Fessey and her partner form Dubbo came in a close fifth place.

Brag Bowls

Brag Bowls is close to the end, with three weeks to go. and the sides are not far apart on the ladder.

Results last Friday evening were:

— NEWS1 10 defeated Presso 8

— SBT 12 defeated Blake 10

— Molong Express 17 defeated NEWS2 4

— RCM Enterprises 13 defeated Murrays Transport 4

Overall winners on the night were Molong Express with a margin of +13.

Runners-up were RCM Enterprises with a margin of +9.

Handicap Singles Championship

Handicap Singles continued on Saturday and Sunday with three games played.

Ramiz Halep and Phil Russell played an exciting game but the young gun was far too good for Ramiz and took the match 29-14.

Lester Davis and John Bennett had a hard game, battling the flies and wind. Lester led early in the match and after 13 ends the score was Lester’s way 11-7 and he increased his lead to 12 when on the 20th end he led 21-9. John started a comeback and on the 30th end the score was 28-19. John was persistent and scored on the next five ends to make the score Lester 29 to John 23. John took the next couple of ends but the post was too close and Lester won the match 33 to John 25.

Sunday’s game was another close one with Ian Gosper doing battle against the heavily back Steve Shannon.

The game was extremely close, with the lead throughout the 28-end battle.

The final score was Steve 31 to Ian 20.

The draw now is as follows:

— David Lang verses Glen Russell

— Ric Manuel verses Arthur Ford

— Craig Troth verses Floyd Miller

— Glen Miller verses Lockie O’Neill

— Alex Davis verses Luke O’Neil

Wednesday social bowls

Twenty bowlers were at the Wednesday social bowls with two games of triples and two games of pairs.

Welcome to Janice and Kevin Robinson who dropped in from Parkes for a game.

The scores were as follows:

— David Dean, Janice Robinson and Ray Bassingthwaite 15 drew with P Gosper, Melissa Wilson and Mal Orringe 15.

— Max Wood, Judy Evers and Graham Wilson 14 defeated Ted Ward, Kevin Robinson and Glen Miller 11.

— Rip Kirby and Ken Nicholls 16 defeated Jim Troth and Les Rouse 8.

— Neville Yateman and Ramiz Halep 15 defeated David Bloomfield and Ted Salcole 12.

Overall winners from the marble draw were Max Wood, Judy Evers and Graham Wilson.

Runners-up were David Dean Daryl Byrne and Graham Wilson.

Touchers were Jim Troth and Les Rouse.

Raffle winners were Rip Kirby, Ray Bassingthwaite, Jim Troth, Janice Robinson and Melissa Wilson.

Saturday jackpot bowls

There were no Saturday jackpot bowls.

Social darts

The Warragamba Dart Club turned up and did battle against Molong.

It was a long day of darts and socialising and I think the winner on the day was darts.

Social news

The Saturday badge draw was not won. Badge number 60 was drawn but Ron Tomsett was not present and the prize next week is $275.

You must be present at the club to win when the draw takes place around 8pm.

Next market night will be 17 December with great Christmas prizes, so be at the club for a great night.

Don’t forget the giant Christmas raffle, with tickets on sale at $5 a ticket or three for $10.
