Molong cricket enters an uncertain phase … and so, by Carl’s measure, does Central West cricket

If Orange’s late cricket guru Carl Sharpe was right then the future of Central Western cricket looks decidedly shaky.

Carl always reckoned that Central Western cricket was only strong when Molong cricket was strong, and a note sent out yesterday by Secretary/Treasurer Greg Pringle would indicate that the Molong competition is undergoing some upheaval.

The competition is only just viable with four teams (Country, Magpies, Telegraph and Cudal) and the loss of one of those sides would almost certainly sound a death knell.

According to Pringle’s missive, Telegraph has had a “few issues” and has lost some players. It continues with a plea: “Could each team please provide Telegraph with some assistance in terms of players if they have excess players each week.”

As Greg quite rightly notes, it is very important in terms of the long-term viability of Molong cricket that Telegraph be maintained as the competition’s fourth team: “Telegraph have the most number of young players in our comp and it is imperative we don’t lost them.”

If anyone is interested in having a game, please give Telegraph captain Ben Brown a call on 0428 082 007.
