NOT MAD DOGS: 09 FEBRUARY 2017

Round 12 of Molong cricket abandoned in face of predicted furnace

With temperatures expected to be around the 44-46ºC mark on Saturday, Greg Pringle, the Honorary Secretary/Treasurer of Molong Cricket, has made the decision to abandon Round 12 of the local competition.

Each team will receive five points, the same as they would get for a washed-out game.

Molong Online thinks it a sensible decision. If the temperature had got to 46ºC then that would have been close enough to 115º on the old scale — certainly way too hot to be safely running about in the sun.

Competition table after 12 rounds

Molong Country 75 (10 wins, 1 loss by forfeit, 1 match abandoned due to heat)

Cudal 58 (5 wins, 6 losses, 1 match abandoned due to heat)

Molong Magpies 54 (4 wins, 7 losses, 1 match abandoned due to heat)

Molong Telegraph 50 (3 wins, 8 losses, 1 match abandoned due to heat)

Next games — Saturday 18 February

Molong Country v Cudal, at Hunter Caldwell Oval, Molong

Molong Telegraph v Molong Magpies at Molong Rec Ground

Matches start at 1pm.
