Cricket NSW supports Pringle’s decision
Molong Cricket’s Greg Pringle may have been scoffed at by some for his decision to cancel today’s round of matches, but he seems to have plenty of support for his decision.
The ABC reports:
A number of amateur and professional sporting events have cancelled across the state.
Cricket NSW said it has cancelled all grades of its premier amateur competition and it has urged other Sydney cricketing associations to do the same.
"My main concern is that Grade Cricket does not have the infrastructure in place to safely monitor and manage heat stroke in what is essentially an amateur volunteer-run organisation," Cricket NSW Doctor John Orchard said.
Meanwhile racegoers will have to delay their excitement with the postponement of today's race meeting at Royal Randwick featuring champion mayor Winx.
Life Saving Carnivals and championships scheduled over the weekend could also be postponed or cancelled.
All national parks in the Upper Central West and North West have also been forced to close due to the heat and high fire danger ratings.
