It’s Country v Cudal in the OilsPlus Grand Final

Next Saturday’s Grand Final of the Oilsplus 2017 Molong Cricket Competition will be played at the Molong Recreation Ground, starting at 1pm, between Molong Country and Cudal, in what promises to be a tantalising replay of last year’s Grand Final.

Country is there by virtue of being this season’s Minor Premiers and going straight through to the decider, Cudal by having easily defeated Molong Magpies in yesterday’s Preliminary Final.

Winning the toss and batting first, Magpies looked good at 0-39 after J Gavin (18) and D Hobbs (25) put on a fine start to the innings, but only J Evans (43) could really get going after that, scoring 43, with Magpies all out for 131.

T Adams (4-24 off 9.3 overs) and T Kennedy (3-18 off 5.1 overs) were the stars for Cudal with the ball, with C Douglass also chipping in with 2-15.

Cudal overhauled that total from 25 overs and with only two wickets down. Openers C Douglass (56) and P Tattersalls (not out 59) led the charge with a stand of 96.
