Top cyclists to converge on Molong for NSW Masters Championships
Cyclists from around the State will converge on Molong this month for the NSW Masters Championship road races.
Up to 460 competitors and as many support crew and spectators will be in town for the races, which will be staged over a course looping around Molong on Saturday 22 April.
It will be the second successive year Molong has hosted the championships and Cabonne Council has again allocated $5000 from its Events Assistance Program to help promote the event.
Mayor Ian Gosper said the economic benefits for Molong and Cabonne Shire will be considerable.
“There was a great atmosphere in the town when the championships were held here last year and I’m certain the 2017 event will be bigger and better,” Cr Gosper said.
The road race will be conducted in age categories for men and women over varying distances of a 28-kilometre course that starts near the town’s village green and proceeds along Packham Drive, Garra Road and Banjo Paterson Way.
“The races should be a great spectacle so I urge people to get along to Molong to witness top class cycling and appreciate the skill and fitness of the competitors,” Cr Gosper said.
